Description |
The present study was planned to study the effect of energy enhancement through glucogenic and lipogenic precursors on metabolic and productive performance of crossbred cows during transition phase. The complete feeds with glucogenic and lipogenic precursors i.e. starch, propylene glycol and bypass fat at varying levels with roughage to concentrate ratio of 60:40 and 50:50 with or without niacin were formulated. The complete feeds with starch 4%, propylene glycol 4% and bypass fat 2 % with niacin were selected with optimum nutrient digestibility and higher metabolizable availability. The starch 4%, propylene glycol 4% and bypass fat 2 % were top dressed in the concentrate mixture of the rumen fistulated animals and their effect on rumen metabolites pH, ammonical N, TCA-N, VFA. The ammonical nitrogen for control and 4 percent propylene glycol fed group was statistically comparable to each other but significantly (P
