Description |
Thesis titled “Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Some Novel 1,2,4-Triazoles” submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Sciences by Ajay Kumar.
Tuberculosis (TB) is a major public health problem in India. India accounts for one-fifth of the global TB incident cases. Each year nearly 2 million people in India develop TB, of which around 0.87 million are infectious cases. 1,2,4-triazole nucleus is present in various chemotherapeutic agents such as fluconazole, terconazole, itraconazole, trazodone etc. Compounds containing heterocyclic ring are not only essential to life but also shows a wide variety of pharmacological activity. Amongst the five-membered nitrogen containing heterocycles, the position of nitrogen atoms at 1, 2 and 4 activates the ring. 1,2,4-Triazole and its derivatives represent one of the most biologically active classes of compounds, possessing a wide spectrum of activities Various 1,2,4-triazole derivatives have been reported to possess diverse types of biological properties such as antitubercular, anticonvulsant, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antihypertensive, antiviral, antileishmanial, and antimigraine activities. Therefore, the present research was designed to synthesize some novel 1,2,4-Triazoles, their characterization and evaluation for antitubercular, antibacterial and antifungal activity. Aims and Objectives: The present research is designed to Synthesize novel 1,2,4- Triazoles, their characterization and biological evaluation for antitubercular, antibacterial and antifungal activity. |
