The present investigation entitled “Effect of different growing media and containers on germination and seedling growth of papaya (Carica papaya L.) cv. Madhubindu” was conducted at Horticultural Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, B. A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand during the year 2013. The treatments comprised of five levels of growing media viz., (1) M1 - Soil + Cocopeat + Vermicompost (1:1:1), (2) M2 - Soil + Sand + Vermicompost (1:1:1), (3) M3 - Soil + Cocopeat + FYM (1:1:1), (4) M4 - Soil + Cocopeat + Vermicompost + Sand (1:1:1:1), (5) M5 - Soil + FYM (1:1) and three levels of containers viz., (1) C1 - Earthen pot, (2) C2 - Plastic container, (3) C3 - Polythene bag. The experiment was laid out in a Complete Randomized Design (Factorial) with fifteen treatment combinations and replicated thrice. |
