Description |
Mosaic disease of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merrill] collected from Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, C.C., Rahuri (JS-335 isolate), Agricultural College, Pune (MACS-13 isolate) and Agril Research Station, K. Digraj, Sangli (DS-228 isolate) was studied in detail to identify causal virus. The symptomatology on soybean revealed production of vein clearings, puckering, mottling, distortion and leaf curling. The inoculated plants remained extremely stunted and seeds of affected plants were mottled Host range of three isolates (MACS-13, DS-228 and JS-335) of soybean was limited to family Leguminosae and Chenopodiaceae. Chenopdium amaranticolor and C. quinoa were found to be the local lesion hosts of all virus isolates showing chlorotic local lesions (CLL). However the host plants from other families such as Solanaceae, Cucurbitaceae, Malvaceae, Amaranthaceae and Compositae did not show any symptom reaction of all the three virus isolates of soybean.
