Description |
Management of Reniform Nematode, Rotylenchulus reniformis (Linford and Oliveira, 1940) on Mungbean (Vigna radiata L.) through Botanicals Present investigations were carried out to test the efficacy of seed kernels of mahua, dhak and jatropha for management of Rotylenchulus reniformis through various applications viz., seed dressing, seed soaking and soil application. Results of seed dressing trial, revealed that mahua seed kernel @ 20 per cent w/w was the best treatment followed by dhak seed kernel at 20 per cent in improving plant growth parameters of mungbean and reducing population of reniform nematode. Experimental findings exhibited that seed soaking with aqueous extracts of mahua and dhak seed kernel @ 20 per cent proved to be effective in improving plant growth parameters of mungbean and minimizing the infection of R. reniformis. Results of soil application trial, showed that mahua seed kernel @ 10.0 q/ha was the best treatment followed by dhak seed kernel @ 10.0 q ha-1and mahua seed kernel @ 5.0 q/ha in improving plant growth of mungbean reducing reproduction of reniform nematode. Integrated effect of plant products as seed dressing (20 %) and soil application (10 q ha-1) revealed that mahua, dhak and jatropha seed kernels proved to be better over others in enhancing growth parameters of mungbean and minimizing infection of R. reniformis. Results obtained from combined application of plant products as seed soaker (20 %) and soil application (10 q ha-1) exhibited that mahua seed kernel was found to be the best treatment followed by dhak seed kernel in reducing reproduction of R. reniformis and improving plant growth parameters of mungbean. On the whole, seed dressing with mahua and dhak seed kernel @ 20 % and their combined application (soil application 10 q ha-1and seed dressing 20 %) were proved to be most effective in improving plant growth characters and reducing reproduction of R. reniformis on mungbean. |
