Description |
A field experiment en titled "integrated weed management in aerobic rice” w as conducted during Kharif 2009 at ZARS, V. C. F arm , Mandya. The experimental site was uniform in topography an d red sand y loam in soil texture. The soil pH was neutral in reaction and medium in available Nitrogen phosphorus and potassium . The experiment consisted o f 12 treatments laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications consisting four pre-emergence herbicides integrated with one inter cultivation at 40 days after sowing , hand weeding twice at 20 and 40 day s after sowing, inter cultivation thrice at 20, 40 and 60 days after sowing compared with weed free and unweeded check. The predominate weed flora observed in the experimental field were, Echinochloa colonum and Digitaria marginata, Ageratum conyzoides, Spilanthus acmella, Commelina benghalensis, Celosia argentia, Cypemsiria an d Cyperusrotimdus. The results revealed that pre-emergence application of Bensulfuron methyl + Pretilachlor (6.6 GR) @ 0 .0 6 + 0.6 0 kg a.i ha '1 + one inter cultivation at 40 days after sowing recorded significantly Higher g rain yield an d straw yield (442 5 k g ha"1 and 5020 kg ha '1 respectively), lower weed population and their dry weight (17 .0 No. 0.25 /m 2 & 2.32 g 0 .25 /m 2 respectively). The plant growth and yield components viz. plant height (79.10 cm ), leaf area (2175.41 cm 2 h ill'1), total dry matter production (69 .30 g hill'1), number of productive tillers hill'1 (25 .9), weight of panicle (3.80 g), filled spike lets per panicle (128.60) and 1000 g rain weight (23 .70 g) were significantly higher with the same treatment. Further the nutrient uptake by the crop (103 .99, 19.28 and 77.71 Kg NPK ha '1) was maximum and the net returns and B: C Ratio was also high with the pre-emergence application of Bensulfuron meth y l + Pretilachlor (6.6 G R) @ 0 .06 + 0.60 kg a.i ha '1 + one inter cultivation at 4 0 day s after sowing. |
