Description |
The present investigation was carried out at the research field and in the laboratory of Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur (C. G.) during year 2003-04. Leaf extracts of five bio-actve plants at 0.5% with release of Trichogramma japonicum @ 100,000/ha in field with seven treatments in RBD. However, under laboratory condition experiment was conducted with six treatments in CRD (excluding bio-agent) against the yellow stem borer. Among the treatments neem leaf extract showed outstanding performance in yield and plant height. While lemongrass showed minimum per cent of white ear heads. Marigold extract was found superior in parasitization of rice stem borer eggs by Trichogramma japonicum (Wlk). Similarly, marigold extracts showed the outstanding performance in attracting the natural enemies. Oviposition index was recorded zero in lemongrass followed by neem 0.4. Lemongrass and neem were effective in deterring the female of YSB to lay eggs. The chemicals responsible for such effects need to be identified. |
