Description Indian Writing in English is flourishing and blossoming by leaps and bounds in both quality and quantity. For the last few decades, Indian English litterateurs are making their presence worldwide. The achievement of Indian English Novel is excellent in literature. Indian novelists like R. K. Narayan, Mulk Raj Anand and Raja Rao have projected contemporary Indian society. Apart from these novelists, Arundhati Roy, Kiran Desai, Aravind Adiga, Chetan Bhagat etc. have also dealt with different aspects of Indian life and society. Chetan Bhagat is a little different from all these writers. He talks not only about the typical Indian social life but also presents the problems of the youth. Through his young protagonists, Bhagat depicts how the youth try to solve their problems. He shows the potential of youths through his novels. Bhagat motivates the young generation. By reading Bhagat s novels, Indian youth become fully confidant to face unexpected difficulties which occurs in their life.
newlineIn the present research work, an effort has been made to find out the different themes in the select novels of Chetan Bhagat. The present research work tries to explore the different major themes such as campus life, faulty education system, cultural conflict, and philosophy of life, corruption in educational field, human relationships and national integrity. It also explores some minor themes such as search for identity, optimism, inter-caste marriage, passive politics and

newlinestruggle for existence. Bhagat suggests different solutions to each of the burning issues through his novels.
newlineThe present research work is divided into five Chapters. The first chapter is divided into two parts. The first part introduces Indian Fiction in English. It also deals with life and career of the writer. The second part presents an introduction of the study elements; purpose and significance of the study, hypothesis, aims and objectives, review of literature, scope and limitations, problem of research, research methodology and chapter scheme.
