Description |
The main objective of this study is to compare and contrast the image newlineof woman in four selected Indian and Yemeni novels written by female and newlinemale novelists. It is meant to compare between the two different perspectives newlinein portraying woman in novels written by female as well as male novelists; newlinethe masculine perspective and the feminine perspective. The researcher newlineintends to make a comparative study that traces the major female characters newlinein the four novels to find out to what extent male and female writers portray newlinewoman in their novels in a similar or a different way. newlineThis study incorporates the analytical and critical method to achieve newlineits aims and objectives. The data is collected from primary sources and newlinesecondary sources. The primary data sources are the four novels selected for newlinethe study namely, Shashi Deshpande s The Dark Holds No Terrors (1980), It newlineis Just Love by Nadia Al-Kokabany (2006), The Glass Palace (2000) by newlineAmitav Ghosh and The Hostage (1994) by Zayd Mutee Dammaj. Secondary newlinedata sources are mainly collected from books, internet websites, magazines, newlinejournals and articles. The analysis of the image of woman in the four selected newlinenovels is based on the feminist literary theory. Throughout this research work, newlinethe referencing and citations follow the MLA (Modern Language newlineAssociation) 7th Edition. newlineThe present study is divided into five chapters. The first chapter newlinecontains an introduction. It includes two main sections: conceptual and newlinetheoretical background and an introduction of the study elements. The second newlinechapter is devoted to present the critical analysis of the image of woman from newlinethe feminine perspective of the two female novelists namely, Shashi newlineDeshpande and Nadia Al-Kokabany. Here, the focus is on the feminine newlineperspective of the female novelists in portraying woman in the selected newlinenovels. newlineThe third chapter includes the analysis and critical comparison of the newlinefemale characters in Amitav Ghosh s The Glass Palace and Zayd Mutee newlineDammaj s The Hostage.
