Description Women are realizing the need for making things happen as they are seen as ambitious. But despite of this increase in career ambitions, very few women are making it to reach at top positions. The Indian banking sector in the recent years is taking steps to create gender inclusivity but these few women on the top do not bring the true picture of gender inclusivity. The review of literature supported this notion, that despite all efforts, the representation of women is low at higher levels of management. It is highlighted in literature that due to presence of stereotypic biases; the women are often trapped in social identity conflict which in turn influences their job performance.
newlineThe present research was carried out in the state of Haryana, a state which is known for its skewed gender ratio. Over the years the percentage of women literacy has increased in comparison to national average but the percentage of female labour participation has not improved. Taking cue from the current trend, the study was carried out with the objective of understanding the perception of private banking women professionals towards double bind paradox and promotional paradox. The study intended to identify the significant factors of promotional paradox. The study aimed to analyze that how double bind and promotional paradox contribute to social identity conflict and which further influences the work performance of women professionals in private sector banks in Haryana.
