Description quotAt present, Wireless Sensor Network has been emerging as a most promising area of research
newlinedue to its vast amount of applications, different function capabilities, and noticeable future
newlinescope. In the last decade, WSN has captured the attention of research communities across
newlinethe globe for the research and development of a sustainable and auto-conand#64257;gure network
newlineto meet the various challenges. The primary concern in WSN is to develop an optimize
newlinesolutions for the reduction of energy consumption, packet losses and computational cost
newlineof the sensors nodes encompass with limited power and a small processing unit. It is a
newlinechallenging task to develop strategies for making WSN more robust and applicable to the
newlineenvironmental and#64258;uctuation and variation of the system parameters.
newlineThe performance of the WSN can be signiand#64257;cantly improved by controlling transmission parameters
newlineas per the nature of the channel and available resources in hand. The common
newlinetransmission policy for all the state of the system may not enhance the performance of WSN
newlinein an optimum way. The reasonable solution is to identify the best set of transmission policies
newlinefor an individual state of the system. The packet scheduling based on cross-layer design
newlinepresent a way to deal with the environmental uncertainty and adaptively manage the parameters
newlineaccordingly. The present set of solutions lack in consideration of higher level system
newlineparameters in a policy-making and less efand#64257;cient to improve the energy efand#64257;ciency of the network.
newlineIn the proposed work, we have addressed two major issues, energy saving and packet loss reduction
newlineby developing path scheduling and packet scheduling approach for Wireless SensorActor
newlineNetwork. We have proposed Optimum Trans-Receiver Scheme (OTRS) to adaptively
newlinemanage the transmission policy as per the variation of the system. In OTRS, the problem
newlineis formulated as per Markov Decision Process (MDP) model with the integration of relevant
newlinetransmission parameters from individual layers as per the cross-layer design. In the
newlineMDP model, the system is
