newlineWireless Sensor Network is emerging as a valuable solution to distant monitoring and control issues. It is a system formed by the group of wirelessly connected Sensor Nodes which are deployed at distinct geographical locations within a candidate region. The performance of any WSN in terms of connectivity, coverage and network life mainly depends on the distribution of SNs within a candidate region. newlineIn this research work we have considered deployment terrain, environmental winds, obstacles, deployment time, scalability and generalness of deployment scheme as the major challenges in large scale open area deployment of sensor nodes and proposed some efficient schemes to deal with these challenges. The brief overview of work done is as follows: newlineTo achieve optimal coverage with minimum relocation of randomly scattered MSNs, a Neighbor Assisted Deployment Scheme is proposed. The scheme is Scalable, obstacle-resistant, and efficient in terms of time taken to setup the network and energy consumption. It is an incremental approach in which the MSNs locally communicate with their neighbors in order to determine the most appropriate move. To randomly scatter the Sensor Nodes within large scale candidate region a random deployment policy is proposed. It uses a Centrifugal Cannon based Sprinkler mounted on an aerial vehicle to stochastically scatter the SNs within a candidate region. It is a time efficient mechanism and suitable for the quick establishment of wireless sensor network. Coverage of Centrifugal Cannon based Sprinkler is further improved by Enhanced Centrifugal Cannon based Sprinkler. newlineTo incorporate the effect of wind during the deployment of SNs three glider assisted models, that is VF, VFU and DVR are proposed for precise placement of SNs within a candidate region. Each successive model is an enhanced version of its predecessor. These models make use of a carrier glider equipped to each sensor node which floats it directly to its predetermined desired locations. newline newline newline — |
