Description |
This study is an attempt to find out the effectiveness of Value Integrated Education on Value Based Student Behaviour and on Value Attainment of students at Upper Primary level using a Pre-Test Post-Test Quasi Experimental design. The study was conducted in NSS KPT Vocational Higher Secondary School Ottapalam. One division of Standard VII with forty two students was selected as the Experimental Group and another division with forty two students was selected as the Control Group. Value Based Student Behaviour Scale and Value Attainment Test for Upper Primary students were developed for measuring Value Based Behaviour and Value Attainment. Thirty lesson transcripts for three units of Kerala Patavali the Malayalam text book for standard VII with deliberate value integration were constructed for teaching the experimental group whereas thirty lesson transcripts of the same units without any deliberate integration of values were constructed for teaching the control group. Prior to the experiment both experimental and control groups were given pre test in Value Based Behaviour and Value Attainment. The investigator himself taught both the groups using their respective lesson transcripts. The study revealed that value integrated education is effective for modification of Value Based Behaviour and Value Attainment of the Upper Primary school students. In the case of the context of behaviour such as school, family and other social context Value integrated education is effective and in the case of five Core Human Values viz. Truth, Righteous Conduct, Peace, Love and Non violence it is found that Value Intrgated Education is effective for the Attainment of Values. The main and interaction effect of the levels of Intelligence and Socio Economic Status is not significantly effect on Value Based Behaviour. In the case of the main effect of the levels of Intelligence and Socio Economic Status the effect on Value Attainment is significant but in the case of interaction effect, it is not significant
