Abstract Fish mince from Psenes Indious and pew fish (sciaeniicis) were pressed at isoelectric pH 5.4 and
4.9 respectively. The protein-concentrated fish cakes and locally available ingredients were used in
different proportion for preparation of pelleted prawn feeds The prawn feeds with protein content
horn 42 to 44%.. retained their shape in water for 24-48 hrs. The proximate composition of PF42 was
nearest to the dietary requirement of prawn. Even though about 22% leaching in 24 hrs was observed
in PF42, there was no change in shape up to 48 hrs in water. Feeding trials were conducted with
500 Penaeus monodon in cemented tank (15 x 5 x 1 m). Average feed conversion ratio of PF42
was minimum, i.e , 0.64 in 60 days, and was 1.17 in 90 days in three replicate feeding trials under a
specified water management system.
