| Abstract | Different techniques of low energy fishing such as line fishing, long lines etc. in and around Veraval, Gujarat, India, one of the major maritime fish landing centres of Gujarat are discussed. The authors are of the view that a shift in emphasis from trawling is essential to retain the fishery at the sustainable level. The results of studies conducted at the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology has shown that the low energy techniques such as longlining are most suitable for exploitation of pelagic resources. |
