Abstract Management of aquatic renewable resources had attracted the attention of philosophers, fishery scientists, politicians, governments and the common man. Fisheries management has been described as everything done to maintain or improve fisheries and their utilization. The objective generally falls under a) those concerned with the maintenance of resources b) those which are of socio-economic nature and c) those reflecting national and international interests. The bilogical resource of the world ocean and the instruments for its rational utilization is an important and urgent problem facing all countries engaged in fishing for marine species.
