Abstract Occurrence of a pathogenic bacteria Staphylococcus aureus is noticed in cured fishes which are prepared under unhygienic conditions. However, the present study show that this bacteria cannot survive in cured fishes for more than 13 days even if the initial load is 2.7 x 10 super(5)/g.
