Abstract l!l5th scale models of 1826 x 800 mm suberkrub doors in combination with 23.4 m and 18.0 m semipelagic trawls were tested in hydraulic tank to assess the performance of the system. The gear with bridles one, and one and a half times the length of headrope were towed at a prototype speed range of 2.6 to 4.2 knots with h.eav\er warp weighing 29.0 glm. The horizontal opening and warp tension increased with increase in speed of tow while the vertical opening and net depth decreased. The volume of water filtered was more in all rigging and speed combinations with 23.4 m net. The vertical opening was maximum while towing with bridles 1.5 times the head rope 1ength. The resistance offered was also less when rigged with lighter boards.
