| Abstract | swe study reveals that Alteromonas putrefaciens forms 0.11 to 3.28% of the total plate count (TPC) on fish and 0.88 to 31.6% of the total hydrogen sulphide producers. There was no correlation between TPC and count of hydrogen sulphide producers/A. putrefaciens . The prevalence of A. putrefaciens was quite low in freshly landed fish. Important biochemical characteristics useful for identification of this species are also reported. |
