| Abstract | Gill net fishing, though not very popular in the Lakshadweep Islands, has very good scope for the exploitation of the untapped resources like sharks, rays, carangids, perches etc. The trial fishing conducted with large mesh HDPE gill nets was found to be encouraging. Popularisation of this low energy fishing, technique in large scale will augment production and generate employment potential at low investment. |
