Abstract Landing data of trawl nets with codend mesh J 0 and 15 mm for shrimp and fish respectively were co\\ected hom 30 vess.els ot 'iarious. <o.i:r.es operating from Visakhapatanam during one fishjng season. Consjder able quantities of juveniles were landed especially of Sardinella spp, Neimpterus spp, Johnius spp, Trichiurus spp, Rastrelliger spp. etc. The size frequency of Rastrelliger konagurta, Sardinella longiceps, and Neimpterus japonicus is discussed. The mesh size of the trawls operated from Visakhapatanam are far below the optimum resulting in retention of considerable quantity of juveniles.
