The BBC World Service broadcasts a weekly programme 'The Farming World' which is of great interest to anyone involved in agriculture extension. It is a programme about a king living from crops, livestock, trees and fish; producing food, fibres, oils and chemicals. The aim is to provide interesting and useful information for those involved in agriculture in all continents whether they be working in tropical, sub-tropical or temperate climates. The 'Farming World' keeps listeners in every part of the world up-to-date with the latest news in research and development. The programme's producer is David Dixon, a man with considerable farming experience. The programe recently won FAO's A.H. Boerman Award for journalism which has helped focus public attention on important aspects of the world food problem, and has encouraged public support for measures leading to a solution. 'The Farming World' can be heard on the BBC World Service on Tuesdays at 18.40 GMT. It is repeated on Wednesdays at 12.25 GMT and on Thursdays at 06.40 GMT and 23.40 GMT.
