Description |
African Pharmacopoeia' is a comprehensive authentic catalogue of 96 plants and drugs which are well known and studied, properly documented and in use both in Africa and in industrialised countries. A description is given of each plant or drug, with the name of the species and family, synonyms and African names in the main languages in use in the area, i.e. Arabic, Bambara, Hausa, Peuhl, Swahili and Yoruba. The catalogue provides information on the characteristics of the drug or parts of the plant used. It describes the botany and geographical distribution to help identify the plant and pinpoint where in the different African climatic zones it grows or can be grown.
