Description |
The soils of sub-Saharan Africa are deficient in many nutrients but the lack of nitrogen is the most serious constraint to higher productivity. Recent research has revealed the enormous potential of forage legumes to improve soil fertility and to supplement animal diets. In order to share such information, to identify production limitations specific to sub-Saharan Africa, and to recommend areas of further work, the International Livestock Centre for Africa (ILCA) brought together more than 60 scientists and development workers from 18 countries for a workshop held in Addis Ababa from September 16-19 1985. The proceedings, which include 30 papers and six abstracts summarizing current knowledge in this field, have now been published. Haque. I., et al.
