Description The International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) is one of the world's oldest scientific organizations. Its goal is to help coordinate forest research through a permanent programme of close international cooperation between researchers and foresters. Over 10,000 professionals from around the world make up IUFRO which operates through more than 300 working groups. Over the last few years particular attention has been given to developing countries, including the creation of a special working programme. Each year about 60-80 working meetings are held and numerous reports and proceedings are published in addition to the quarterly bulletin, IUFRO News.
