Description |
A rabbit raising cooperative in Martinique is experimenting with the use of light, plastic shelters for small livestock operations. Similar to temporary greenhouses, these plastic structures have numerous advantages for small producers with little capital to invest. Less than half the price of metal housing, they are easy to build and require no foundations. With only a little help, farmers can build such facilities themselves. Furthermore, these plastic tunnels are multi-purpose as they can also be used to grow plants instead of shelter ani'mals. A study is currently underway on the different technical and economical aspects of such shelters in order to provide prospective users with detailed instructions. For more details, contact: A.
