Title Appropriate Technology Sourcebook

Creator Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation

Description Originally published in 1975, the 1986 edition of the Appropriate Technology Sourcebook contains reviews of 1,150 of the best publications on village technology from around the world. This wellillustrated guide greatly simplifies the task of finding and ordering technical books needed for local development projects. Price information and addresses with each review allow the reader to obtain copies easily.

In the 122 pages covering the sections on agriculture, agricultural tools, and crop storage, there are many references to organizations familiar to SPORE readers. There are also sections on forestry and aquaculture.

Given its emphasis on relevance to Third World countries, the practical value of the books reviewed, and the fact that it includes many classical texts in this field (going back to 1965), this is an excellent reference guide for people working in the field. There is also a detailed index and glossary of terms. According to the BBC, 'the short reviews give you an excellent idea of what the books are about, where you can get them, and how much they cost...all highly practical'.
