Description Ugandan scientists have formed the Uganda Pasture Network (UPANE) to coordinate research and development in animal feed resources.

The first meeting was held at Makerere University in Kampala last December and attracted 150 participants and 33 papers. Its main purpose was to assess research work in this field and to allow national scientists to exchange information with farmers and government policy makers.

UPANE has already established links with the Pasture Network for Eastern and Southern Africa (PANESA) and is aiming to extend these links to the forage networks in Ethiopia and Kenya and to the African Research Network for Agricultural By-products(ARNAB).
