Title Making energy a priority

Creator Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation

Description Energy is an essential dimension of all rural development programmes, and it is therefore vital to identify energy needs at an early stage so that they can be integrated into project design. Energy inputs have been shown to be particularly valuable in enhancing the benefits of other rural investments and failure to plan properly for energy requirements may jeopardize the success of an entire project.

The energy dimension has been written and designed to give administrators and rural specialists sufficient, easily accessible information to enable them to ask the right questions to project proposers. There are summaries of three key issues and practical ways to implement energy planning, detailed discussion of energy options and fact sheets and checklists for each project and technology type for quick reference.
