Description Inspecting for bee diseases is an important part of beekeeping. Apiary inspectors and beekeepers must be able to recognize bee diseases and parasites and to differentiate the serious diseases from the less important ones.

Diagnosis of honey bee diseases describes laboratory techniques used to diagnose diseases and to detect and identify parasites pests and other abnormalities of the honey bee. Emphasis is placed on the techniques used by the US Department of Agriculture Bee Research Laboratory and directions for submitting samples for diagnosis or subspecies identification are included in appendices.

The handbook, which is clearly set out and easy to follow includes line drawings, photographs and tables of comparative symptoms.
