Description The Food and Agriculture Development Centre, better known as ZEL, is the agricultural training section of the German Foundation for International Development (DSE).



The main activities of the Centre, which was established in 1964, consist of organizing and conducting training courses and specialized professional programmes. They include development-oriented conferences for all levels of agricultural, forestry and veterinary personnel from developing countries.



Course programmes, both long- and short-term, are offered annually and cover a variety of selected subjects. Courses concentrate on a wide area of professional fields such as plant production, plant protection, pest control, animal production, animal health, agricultural engineering, extension work, marketing, planning, evaluation, agricultural self-help organizations, forest projects fisheries and aquaculture. ZEL is noted for its quality of training for technical and key personnel in developing countries.
