Flex-Faso exemplifies the success which can be achieved when African export companies pay careful attention to quality control and train their growers and handlers alike to give European consumers what they want. Flex-Faso is a broadly based company which has seen its market share in the export of green beans grow from strength to strength, rising from an initial 15t per annum to 470t in 1991. It owes its survival in large measure to the fact that it also exports mangoes and markets fruit locally, thus ensuring all-year-round working.
