Our article on organic agriculture in Spore 85 continues to attract responses. Shei W Kanjo, Coordinator of SPACE, PO Box 20, Ndop, NW Province, Cameroon tells us that his organisation is 'made up of nine agricultural and community development technicians working in a rural community of 13 villages. We are presently working in natural crop protection with an association of seven farming groups known as Bamunkumbit Crop Protection Association (BACROPA). We are soon beginning on-farm trials with selected members, aimed at improving the use of seeds, leaves and roots of plants by farmers, to control pests in fields and stores. Castor (Ricinus communis) seeds, Lobelia columnaris leaves, Datura stramonium leaves and papaya leaves and roots have shown some insecticidal properties which we hope to harness through these trials. We are looking for researchers and persons with experience in natural methods of pest control to give us information. We are also looking for interested donors.'
