The Midlands Organic Growers Association (MOGA) of Malawi has established a market in the capital Lilongwe selling directly to consumers, with support from the German agency GTZ. The market is astutely located in a low-density residential area, a good catchment area for foreign residents. These customers, MOGA reports, are happy that prices are fixed and do not have to be negotiated as on other markets. The 2,000 organic farmers in MOGA have to take turns to sell, with different farmers groups taking a stand one day a week.
