Description |
A relatively new caterpillar is wreaking havoc in Congo Brazzaville. Since 1999, an unidentified caterpillar has infested avocado, custard apple, guava, banana and oil palm. It sticks to the underside of leaves and fruits. Affected plant parts shrivel and die. No known pesticide or measure to fight the caterpillar yet exists. Specimens are under investigation by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture.
