The article in Spore 80 entitled 'Poverty Reduction: Simply a Question of Access?' prompted a thundering 'YES!' from S.O Obenjo of Gbensola Enterprises in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. Talking of his need to stockpile his cassava crop until prices rise back above production costs, he calls on 'research institutions and universities to open up their storage facilities... The bulk of agricultural knowledge and technologies have been accumulated by our academicians using our resources over the years, and they should be put to our advantage. Farmers don't have a trade union, cannot collectively go on strike, and are accountable not only to their immediate families but to all.'
