Description 30 July 5 August 2000, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Agribusiness has to aim for quality to occupy niches in global markets, and it must also adopt an acceptable version of environmentalism and address social justice issues. These concerns inform the type of contracts agribusinesses negotiate with agricultural producers. The workshop intends to contribute to an analysis of the interactions between agribusiness and producers and to the translation of environmental and social discourses into institutional and technological transformations.
