Description |
Models are a superb way to explain a phenomenon and to raise questions, through which an extension worker can ascertain the depth of knowledge in a community. Made by the people themselves and using materials available in the village (tools, gourds, watering cans, etc), the models can be actively used in an open space in the village to make something like a garden or a mangrove where water can be used and animals put, and then people can watch for changes. The prime aim is to demonstrate various phenomena, whether physical, biological, agricultural or environmental, but there is the added aspect of encouraging exchanges between farmers.
