Description |
In Kenya and Tanzania hybrids IESH 22023, IESH 28005, IESH 22009, IESH 214016 and IESH 214016 had the best grain yields (4.370-6.889 t/ha) and overall agronomy and were selected for on-farm testing. These hybrids had 3.5-63.2 percent yield advantage over released hybrid IESH 28002 (NACO SH 2) in Tanzania (Table 1). In Malawi the hybrids performed better at Chitala station than at Chitedze station. Hybrids IESH 22010, IESH 22002, IESH 22005, IESH 22011, IESH 29068, IESH 22006 and IESH 22023 (released in Tanzania) with yields of 5.847 – 7.740 t ha-1 (Fig. 2) were identified for on farm evaluation. These were selected for on farm evaluation. In Zimbabwe hybrids ICSH 93135, SDSH 94014, SDSH 94010, IESH 214015, IESH 28020, IESH 28002, IESH 22023, IESH 22019 and IESH 22002 (yields 3.020 – 3.517 t/ha) were selected for on farm testing.
