This is a successful story of a woman that has benefited from the tomato production farmers' field school (FFS) program conducted by Community Livestock and Agriculture Project (CLAP). The information on irrigation, control of weeds, method of collecting the tomato seed and using the improved seed provided helped her to apply the knowledge on her own backyard. The improved seed and the formation, made it possible for her to harvest higher yield resulting so in higher income generation. ICARDA has been working closely with female farmers for many years. By starting the Kitchen Garden program under ICARDA, several farmers and families have got a good result becoming stronger economically and socially. |
