Abstract |
Tlaltizapan is the name of a small town located in the center of the Mexican state of Morelos. "Tlaltizapán" is a name in the Nahuatl language (ancient Aztecs' language) that means "over white land" ("tlalli"=land, " tiza"=white dust, "pan" =over). Undoubtedly they were right, since a calcareous subsoil is characteristic of the region and in some areas this material is exposed on the surface. Associated with this characteristic is chlorosis observed on crops like maize, sugarcane and sorghum. |
