This report provides a summary of the results of the 9th ITYN from 67 sites which were received from the 110 locations in the world, to where this nursery was sent during 1977-1978. The 9th ITYN contained triticale lines that have been identified in earlier ITYN trials as having good yield potential and wide adaptation, and also new advanced lines showing good performance in Mexico and in the International Triticale Screening Nursery. The ITYN program has the following three objectives: 1. Distribution of superior spring triticale germplasm to national and regional breeding programs. 2. Identification of triticales with high yield potential and wide adaptation. 3. Identification of superior disease resistance. Until now, most of the entries included in the ITYN program have come from the CIMMYT breeding program; however national program; are encouraged to send their best triticale lines to be included in the nursery. |
