Description The study aimed to increase the chances of success of future rehabilitation projects by identifying the approaches that have contributed to longer-term sustainability under different scenarios and have had minimal negative impacts on the different stakeholders.

The study was conducted through an inventory and characterisation of past and ongoing rehabilitation initiatives and their changing profiles in each selected region by conducting a series of consultations and workshops with national and local stakeholders, as well as literature reviews of project-related documents and other secondary sources. As the first step of this review, a Preliminary Database of 150 rehabilitation projects was compiled in order to capture basic information on the project variables which then served as the basis for analysing the key characteristics and changing trends of rehabilitation efforts in Indonesia.
