Description |
The data includes experiences of actors who participate in the timber value chain. These timbers were sourced mainly from natural forests on private land, government forest reserves and scattered trees on farm in mid-western Uganda in the districts of Kakumiro, Kibaale, Hoima and Masindi. Thus, for this study, upstream actors were selected from the districts of Rukungiri, Mitooma and Rubanda, Kakumiro, Kibaale, Hoima and Masindi. All these districts are located in the Albertine rift. The project sought to answer the following three research priority questions: (a) What is the dynamics and governance of the timber value chain in Uganda; (b) What are the law enforcement practices, and implementation challenges; and (c) What are the social, economic, and environmental impacts of informal timber value chains. |
