Description The Entomological Collection of the International Potato Center (CIP) houses insects mainly related to potato and sweet potato crops. Peru is the center of origin of the potato and secondary center of genetic diversity of sweet potato, consequently possess the greatest diversity of species pests and natural enemies related to these crops. Our entomological collection has more than 9000 records in our online catalog that correspond to more than 48000 specimens collected since 1947. These specimens come from 26 countries in America, Europe, Asia and Africa; which constitutes the largest entomological collection in potato and sweet potato in the World. The collection of insects is a way to register, conserve and disseminate scientific knowledge about the great insect diversity in potato and sweet potato ecosystems. This collection is used by a growing number of researchers, students and farmers and now the searches can be done easily through the our web
