Description Arracacha is an andean root crop, that sometimes is grown together with potato plants. Potato virus S (PVS) has been reported that infect naturally pepino and potato. Due to there are reports that andean roots and tuber crops, we designed universal primers for carlaviruses in the RdRp region and an infected arracacha in the collection germplasm from International Potato Center (CIP) was detected. We complete the downstream sequence and analysis the 7kDa, 11kDa and the coat protein and concluded that it is a new strain of PVS. Moreover, the designed primer will be useful to detect this virus in arracacha where this culture is much marketed.
