Description Fisheries management essentially involves ecologically (or biologically) sustainable
exploitation of resources ensuring maximum welfare to the dependent communities
employing the best combination of technologies: The policies, interventions and
institutional mechanisms are very important components . in the fisheries
management system. Studies on different aspects of fisheries aim to analyse the
underlying features of the fishery environment and to suggest suitable technical or
policy interventions for resolving the issues of fisheries management.
As a logical conclusion of the present study it is necessary to summarise the
important outcomes, draw inferences from the findings, recommend suitable policy
measures and suggest future course of research. This Chapter aims to provide a
Chapter-wise summary of the findings of the study and draw conclusions in the
background of the various objectives. Examining the challenges and opportunities,
this Chapter indicates some policy measures and options for sustainable exploitation
of marine fisheries along the upper East Coast of India. At the end some suggestions
are given for future research after citing the limitations of the present work.
