Description Indigenous gears are operated along the South Kanara coast for a short period during the mc nsoon months. Mackerel contributed 30% to the total catch of these gears. P2ttabale is the most efficient gear followed by the ranibale and the mattabale The catch consisted of spawners (210 to 265 mm) as well as the new recruits (70 to 123 mm).
