Title P877 - Measuring the bandwidth of the pulsar emission mechanism

Subject Astronomical and Space Sciences not elsewhere classified

Description Pulsars are compact, rotating stars that emit beams of radio waves in the same way a light house emits its beam. They are also useful as astronomical clocks that can be used to test Einstein's theory of general relativity. Astronomers don't know why pulsars emit these beams. We are using Parkes to study the beams simultaneously at different wavelengths of radio waves. These measurements will be used to develop better models for pulsar emission and to understand how to improve their accuracy as clocks.
