Description |
CSIRO, through the Water for a Healthy Country National Research Flagship, was contracted by the National Water Commission to assess the current and future water availability in 18 regions across the Murray-Darling Basin (MDB) considering climate change and other risks to water resources. Three climate scenarios were used for the hydrological modelling in the project: historical climate, recent climate and future climate. The future climate scenario, is used to assess the range of possible climate conditions around the year 2030. In this dataset, forty-five future climate variants, each with 112 years of daily climate sequences for 0.05 degree x 0.05 degree grid cells across the,MDB are used for the rainfall-runoff modelling. The future climate variants come from scaling the historical climate data covering 1895 to 2006 to represent the climate around 2030, based on analyses of 15 global climate models (GCMs) and three global warming scenarios. Further details are in the published report: Chiew FHS, Teng J, Kirono D, Frost AJ, Bathols JM, Vaze J, Viney NR, Young WJ, Hennessy KJ and Cai WJ (2008) Climate data for hydrologic scenario modelling across the Murray-Darling Basin.
